A Printed circuit board (PCB) is a circuit board made up of printed circuit material (PVC), which has conductive components printed on its surface. A Printed circuit board mechanically connects and electronically connects electronic or electrical components with conductive pads, tracks and other structural features etched onto and/or within one or more layer(s) of non-resonant material. The basic composition of a Printed circuit board consists of a top layer of non-resonant material, bottom layer of conductive material and the inside layer of Pcb. Since the purpose of a Printed circuit board is to form an electronic circuit to be wired into an application, it is possible that other circuitry will be incorporated on the board. Some Printed circuit boards have a structure where the layers of Pcb are staggered to provide greater surface area for the electronics and electrical components to connect to.


The use of Pcb circuit boards has increased tremendously over the years due to their high quality and low cost relative to solid state electronic devices such as microprocessors and integrated circuits. Small devices can be integrated into Pcb's quickly and easily due to their small form factor and lack of wiring interfaces. This also reduces the requirement for additional RF circuitry or power management systems to prevent overheating or fire hazards. Due to their ease of manufacturing and use, Pcb's are used in a variety of applications in all kinds of industries from signage to industrial automation to medical devices and in numerous retail applications.


Most printed substrate board manufacturers offer both custom and standard fabrication capabilities for PCBs. They can also service and support both new and pre-existing designs. Most commonly, these boards are used for applications requiring high reliability and a wide range of functional capabilities, including data storage, system control, input / output devices, and wireless communication. Many modern PCBs employ programmable logic controls (PLC) which enable the programmer to create circuits with significant flexibility and add new functionality through the use of programmable logic gates (PLGs). Programmers can also easily add on components such as LEDs and connectors.
