A printed circuit board (PCB) is a thin plastic or wood composite material that is used to connect electronic devices, sensors and circuitry together. It is an integrated circuit and the electrical interfaces of its component traces are determined by the wiring structure that is incorporated into the board. The PCB is the heart of your electronics and can be made of several different materials. The most popular ones being clear pcb, anodized aluminum, polyester, silk screen, and thermoplastic.
There are several advantages of using pcb assembly when compared to other methods such as soldering, routing, SMT and printing. A printed circuit board mechanically holds and connects electrical or electronic elements with conductive pads, traces and other functional features etched in one or more layers of solid copper laminated on and/or between several sheet layers of a conductive resin. However, pcb prototypes require less space than traditional PCBs because they only have a small surface area compared to their full-size counterparts.
They are available with multilayer configurations which have three, four or five layers of components. Four-layered multilayer pcb boards are also available which have two, four and six layers of copper layer materials. On multilayer PCBs, you will find that they are available in different heights depending on the requirements. The most common form of multilayer PCB is a two layer board with eight conductors and an extra wire for connection to the solder point. Two-layer boards are ideal for applications requiring tight fit and minimal space.
