A printed circuit board (PCB) is the anode-based electronic component that carries electric signals and information from one source to another. A printed circuit board mechanically connects and electronically supports electrical or mechanical components with conductive printed tracks, pads and various other components etched into one or more layer layers of non Conductive Thermoplastic (heat-resistant plastic) or Teflon-coated (non-metallic) polymer sheets. Various PCB sizes and materials are available. Most PCB's carry additional functionality, such as I/O ports, serial communication connectors, pin header compatibility, etc.


Currently, the most popular form of pcb circuit boards is the printed circuit board, also known as printed circuit boards (PCBs), which are used in the electronic industry, mobile phones, computer peripheral devices, consumer products, office equipment and medical equipment among many other applications. In the past, pcb's were manufactured using rigid substrate materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), dielectric polymers (DIPs), or liquid-state push-pots. PVC is no longer the most popular pcb circuit board, because it is susceptible to flexing, warping, and moisture absorption due to temperature fluctuations, which can reduce its durability and life span. With the advent of PCBS, manufacturers have learned that liquid-state technology provides additional advantages in terms of performance and durability compared to PVC and DIPs. The most common material used in PCBS is flexible substrate material.


Another alternative to pcb circuit boards are heat shrinkable PCBS, which consist of specially-formulated heat shrinkable foam or rubber inserts that adhere to the top layer of the pcb circuit board, which is then placed on a heat sink until the insert becomes flat. Popular heat shrinkable PCBS is the ClearXO and Abode PBCS, which can shrink up to 4 inches during continuous application. PCBSs also offer other benefits such as reduced weight and size, plus their use in conjunction with other PCBS products allows manufacturers to create more complex and intricate structures. Ultimately, pcb manufacturers have to find a way to make their PCBS less flexible so that it can better withstand pressure from the PCB.
